Atlas Series Insurance

Atlas Series Insurance

Travel Medical Insurance for International Trips

The Atlas Series is travel medical insurance designed to cover individuals and groups as they travel outside their home country. We offer four different products—Atlas Travel®, Atlas Premium, Atlas MultiTrip™, and Atlas Group®—so you can choose the coverage that best fits your client’s needs and budget.

  • Atlas Travel – This is the most popular plan of the Atlas Series. It provides coverage for individuals and small groups (2-4 people) taking a single trip abroad.

  • Atlas Premium – This plan is designed for individuals and small groups seeking the highest possible coverage limits for a single trip abroad. It has a higher premium than Atlas Travel, so it may be ideal for shorter trips.

  • Atlas MultiTrip – This plan provides coverage for multiple trips abroad. Your clients can pay once and get 364 days of coverage for international trips of up to 30 or 45 days each.

  • Atlas Group – This plan for groups of 5 or more offers the same benefits as Atlas Travel at a 10% discount. It may be ideal for your client’s student group, mission group, or large family.

Why Do Travelers Need Travel Medical Insurance?

There are three key reasons why your clients may need travel medical insurance for their trip abroad:

  1. No matter the destination they choose or the activities they plan, there’s a chance they could encounter a travel mishap, accident, or illness. Overseas trips can expose travelers to unfamiliar environments, foreign foods, and bacteria which may increase their risk of falling ill or becoming injured.

  2. Their domestic health plan may not cover them outside their home country. This means they may be required to pay for medical expenses out of pocket with zero reimbursement.

  3. They may need a visa for their destination country that requires proof of travel medical insurance or proof of subsistence. One such visa is the Schengen visa for travelers to Europe.

Market Size

Worldwide international tourist arrivals increased 5% to 1.4 billion in 2018, according to estimates from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The most recent data from the National Travel and Tourism Office reveals that 79.3 million international travelers visited the U.S. in 2019 alone.

Who Can Purchase Atlas Series Insurance?

Applicants are eligible for Atlas insurance coverage if they are traveling outside of their home country. Applicants must purchase coverage for at least 5 days, though they are not required to travel all 5 days.  Babies must be at least 14 days old to qualify for coverage. There is no maximum age limit for Atlas Travel, Atlas Premium, or Atlas Group.

The Atlas Series is not available to individuals who are physically located in Canada, Australia, or the states of New York, Maryland, or Washington at the time of purchase. Applicants are permitted to use a mailing address for these locations as long as they are not physically located there when they apply for coverage.

Additional qualifications vary by plan:

  • Atlas MultiTrip – Applicants must be under age 76 and maintain medical insurance that covers them while they are in their home country. Your client’s spouse and children are also eligible for coverage as long as they meet these same requirements.

  • Atlas Group – Applicants must be traveling as part of a group of 5 or more. All group members must select the same primary destination, though they do not need to have the same travel dates.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to U.S. government regulations, we are unable to sell policies in countries restricted by U.S. economic sanctions and embargo programs and/or other applicable trade sanction laws.
